ARGENTINA. VENADO TUERTO, PROVÍNCIA DE SANTA FÉ. On the morning of September 6, 1978, 12-year-old Juan Oscar Pérez had gone out to look for a herd of horses scattered across the field.
Riding his horse Cometa, he was traversing the lands of the ranch where his family lived, about 6 km from the town of Venado Tuerto, in the southern province of Santa Fe.
Suddenly, colored lights appeared that, according to Pérez's description, seemed to dance around him. The horse became skittish and tried to bolt back to the ranch house, but Juan controlled it. Felipe Pérez, his father, appeared and asked about the scattered herd of horses. He paid no attention when Juan spoke of the lights. He told his son to return to the field.
The boy rode to a pond located within the ranch and there observed a landed object. He saw the horses running away frightened, but he led Cometa there, even though the animal was restless.
Pérez described the object as being about 12 meters in diameter, semi-spherical in shape, and with circular windows all around. Suddenly, the boy saw an opening form on the surface of the craft, similar to a hatch sliding to the side; a ladder unfolded and touched the ground.
"It was like a hut, but with a tall, round dome. I wanted to go inside. They shone like lights of many colors. The horse was scared. I tied him to a huge ladder that came out, which I remember being gray and very cold."
At the doorway formed on the surface of the craft, Juan saw a tall being, about 2.5 meters high, wearing a silvery-gray suit and a cylindrical helmet. It wore gloves. Its middle finger was the shortest of all, and a flexible hose protruded from the front of the helmet, connected to a point inside the object.
The being emitted unintelligible sounds and gestured with its hand, inviting Juan to enter the vehicle.
The boy tied the horse's reins to one of the ladder's legs and climbed up, stopping at the top, next to the being.
He saw a rectangular room, with a control panel on the right full of buttons and another similar one on the left. Next to the latter, he saw a small being, 1.5 meters tall, with a completely cylindrical body and short legs ending in wheels.
Its arms had no hands, but instruments similar to scissors and tweezers. Juan identified this being as a robot.
The robot was performing what appeared to be a sorting of bones laid out on a table, cutting them and depositing the pieces into containers.
The boy wanted to touch the humanoid being, but felt the presence of what he described as "an invisible wall".
DRONES
At one point, the alien pressed some buttons and the ladder began to retract. Juan ran to untie Cometa, who became very agitated. The strange being helped the boy and released the ladder again.
Next, Juan pointed to the alien's glove. He took off the glove and handed it to the boy. The bare hand revealed green skin with fingers ending in conical claws. In an unexpected gesture, the being stabbed Juan in the arm with those claws.
The boy mounted Cometa to return to the ranch, but after traveling a few meters, he saw that the UFO released two smaller objects, which joined together and passed close to him, capturing the glove that Juan had attached to its saddle. The UFO disappeared into the sky with a piercing buzzing sound, while Pérez arrived home.

According to Juan Oscar Pérez, his mother also had a UFO experience in her childhood, in 1948. At the time, she was a girl and was walking with her German Shepherd when a mysterious light, coming from a craft, illuminated the animal and took it away.
Juan's aunt watched, astonished, what was happening near her sister: the dog barked at the craft that was floating about four meters above the ground. From that day on, the animal doesn't returned home.
Juan Pérez's mother was never the same after that episode: "She has premonitory dreams and visions. She has a special vision."
In ufological terms, the experiences of mother and son are classified, like Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
THE VORONEZH CASE:
SIMILARITIES TO A RUSSIAN CASE
The Juan Pérez case caught the attention of ufologists due to the similarity of the being described and drawn by the young Juan to those described and portrayed in the Voronezh Case*, which occurred in Russia, especially regarding the large stature of the humanoid being and the robotic appearance of the other.
* VORONEZH CASE:
* Occurred on September 27, 1989 (a Wednesday).
* Location: Yuzhny Park (South Park), Voronezh city, Russian Soviet Socialist Republic (Soviet Union).
* Account of Events: Around 6:30 PM, witnesses, mostly young people and children, reported that a bright, dark red or pinkish ball descended and hovered over the park, landing shortly afterward. Other anomalous events were reported at the time.
DOCUMENTARY
"I thought I was going crazy." Juan
Argentine filmmaker Alan Stivelman directed a documentary about the "Juan Pérez Case": Witness from Another World ("Testigo de otro mundo").
The film premiered in Argentine cinemas, in Spanish, on May 10, 2018, and was subsequently released on global streaming platforms between 2018 and 2019.

French astrophysicist and ufologist Jacques Vallée, who investigated the case at the time, actively participated in the documentary. His meetings and photographic records with director Alan Stivelman took place during the development and filming process, around 2016.
The documentary focuses entirely on the story of Juan Pérez. Alan Stivelman's objective was to go beyond the UFO event itself and focus on the psychological consequences, the trauma, and the loneliness that Juan carried for 40 years afterward.
